The AXIS D2050-VE is a network radar detector, listed here with Axis's thermal range. Instead of a picture, it uses radar to detect and track people and vehicles. It is not affected by darkness, glare, rain, dust or moving shadows that can trigger video analytics. Axis says the radar covers a 120-degree field. When mounted at about 3.5 m, it detects from roughly 4.5 m to 50 m, covering an area of around 2,500 m².
Radar is often used to protect open areas outside a fence or building, such as yards, rooftops, solar farms, utility compounds and the space around critical equipment. It works best paired with a camera: when the radar detects an intruder, it can trigger a PTZ to follow the target or alert the control room with a video clip. Transit plans radar coverage and sets detection zones and filters on site. We then connect the radar to cameras, the VMS and alarm systems. See our intrusion detection and outdoor surveillance pages, or the Axis thermal cameras range. Talk to Transit about stock and an installed price.
