Hikvision checkpoint systems capture every vehicle that passes a point on a road or at a site entrance. They record the number plate, vehicle details and an image for each passage. A typical ANPR camera in this range, the iDS-TCM403-B, is a 4 MP unit that Hikvision says can cover up to three lanes and read plates on vehicles travelling at up to 120 km/h. It also recognises vehicle type, colour and make. Larger checkpoint setups add detection for red-light running, wrong-way driving, and seatbelt or phone use.
The data is useful well beyond traffic enforcement. Industrial zones, logistics parks, ports, residential communities and campuses use checkpoints to log every vehicle and to search past passages by plate. They also flag vehicles on a watch list.
