Junction boxes sit behind or below a camera and hold the cable connections. They keep the cabling protected from weather and tampering and give the installation a tidy look. A missing junction box is one of the most common causes of camera faults outdoors. Water creeps into an exposed RJ45 connector, or a cable is cut where it leaves the wall.
