Hikvision's Wi-Fi cameras, now marketed as the Cable-Free series, connect to the network wirelessly. That removes the need for a data cable to each camera, though each one still needs power. The latest models use Wi-Fi 6 for a steadier connection with less lag. Setup is done by scanning the camera in the Hik-Connect app. They can record to a matching Wi-Fi NVR or NVS, or in some cases to a memory card in the camera.
Wi-Fi cameras suit homes, small shops, cafés, rented offices and quick add-ons to existing systems, where cabling is difficult or not permitted. They are less suitable for large sites or long distances, because walls, metal and interference cut the signal.
