Hikvision's AID (automatic incident detection) systems use video analytics to spot problems on roads and in tunnels as they happen, rather than waiting for someone to report them. The system can detect stopped vehicles, accidents, congestion, wrong-way driving, pedestrians on the carriageway, fallen objects, vehicles in the emergency lane, and smoke or fire in tunnels. Each event is sent to HikCentral or a third-party traffic platform with a video clip. The system also logs traffic data, such as volume and speed. Hikvision's iDS-TSS500-F analysis server can process feeds from Hikvision and ONVIF cameras, so existing cameras can often be reused.
AID is used in road tunnels, underpasses, bridges, highways and large car park ramps, where quick detection reduces the risk of secondary accidents.
