At an industrial plant in Abu Dhabi, controllers on two separate plant networks write their values over Modbus TCP whenever something changes. The goal was to turn those values into automatic PTZ camera moves, so the right equipment appears on screen when an alarm is raised.
Transit, as system integrator, delivered the hardware, cameras, integration and commissioning. The PTZ cameras are managed through a Pelco video management system (VMS). The software was developed by our software integration partner Abaci to Transit's requirements.
Key points of the project:
- Both plant networks received at the same time, each on its own address and port
- On/off signals, whole numbers, decimal values and single alarm bits decoded correctly
- Only real changes can trigger a camera, so repeated values never cause false moves
- Rules, data points and cameras managed by site staff from a web console, with spreadsheet loading
- One move at a time per camera, operator control respected, and every move logged
The site gets faster eyes on a problem, and staff can keep the setup up to date without developers.
